1. Mandatory Components of a Salary Slip
Earnings Section:
- Basic Salary — taxable; basis for PF, gratuity, and leave encashment calculation
- HRA (House Rent Allowance) — partially exempt if employee pays rent and meets conditions
- Conveyance / Transport Allowance — taxable (standard deduction covers this under new regime)
- Special Allowance — fully taxable, balancing component of CTC
- Medical Allowance — taxable (tax-free reimbursement of actual bills is more efficient)
- LTA (Leave Travel Allowance) — exempt for actual travel costs twice in a 4-year block
